Melvin Douglas Beaumont, 62, of Vidor died August 5, 2005 Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.  A native and lifetime resident of Beaumont, Melvin was a cab driver.

He is survived by his former wife, Claudia Abercrombie of Orange; sons, Roger Beaumont and his wife Donna of Buna, Henry Beaumont of Vidor, Glenn Beaumont and his wife Arlissa and Robert Beaumont and his wife Sheila all of Orange, Manuel Beaumont and his wife Carmen of Conroe, and Kenneth Beaumont of Beaumont; daughter, Laurie Beaumont of Beaumont; sisters, Lily Irene Snipes of Bridge City and Glennice Hartnett of Dallas; brother, James Beaumont of  Pearland; twenty-three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His parents, Manuel Archibald and Dora Block Beaumont; two brothers, and one sister preceded Melvin in death.
