Thomas Paul Roebuck 
December 9, 1942 - April 17, 2005

Thomas ”Paul” Roebuck, 62 of Nederland passed away on Sunday April 17, 2005 at his residence.

 

Paul was born in Philadelphia, PA, but his family moved to Nederland in 1944.  He attended Nederland School and graduated from Shelbyville High School.  Paul graduated from Stephen F. Austin College.  At the beginning of his professional career, he worked at the Channelview Bank as Vice-President of loans.  Returning to Nederland in 1977, he became a pipe fitter with Golden Triangle Constructors and was a member of Local 195.  Around 1986, he went to work with his brother Phillip at Echo Maintenance as an estimator.  Paul was well respected throughout the construction industry.

 

Paul loved doing everything with family and friends.  His favorite pastime was playing golf and he had the opportunity to experience his ultimate golf trip to Pebble Beach shortly before he passed.  He also enjoyed deer hunting in Del Rio, Texas

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. (Allen) and Vasco Roebuck and his brother, Jerry Roebuck.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Denise; daughters, Donna Roebuck and partner Dee Kennamer of Houston, Texas, Brandi Prater and husband Allan of The Woodlands, Texas, and Hayley Roebuck of Nederland; son, Steve Roebuck and wife Michelle of Pflugerville; brother, Phillip Roebuck and wife Susie of Port Neches; sister, Polly Bergmann of Horseshoe Bay; granddaughter, Gabrielle Lacer; grandsons, Tomas Lacer, Christopher Roebuck and Andy Roebuck; mother-in-law, Betty Newman and friend L.M. Barrow; father-in-law, Winston Newman and wife Barbara of Port Neches; brothers-in-law, Dwayne Newman and wife Marilyn of Port Neches and Darin Newman of Gillsburg, MS; grandmother-in-law, Lois Stewart of Gillsburg, MS, whose one-hundredth birthday he helped celebrate in March of this year; nephew, Mike Roebuck of Nederland who was like a brother, son and best friend; nieces, Rhonda McDonald of Port Arthur and Pam Austin of Italy whom he also shared a very close relationship with; and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Brother Bryan Webb will officiate funeral services Wednesday, April 20th at 2:00 pm at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, Texas.  Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m..  Burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

 

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Newman, Darin Newman, Mike Roebuck, James Lynch, Terry Melancon, Al Dean, Andy Brisendine, and John Courtney, and honorary pallbearer will be Walter Ables.

 

Paul was an extremely well liked man.  His sharp wit was appreciated by his family, friends, and colleagues. Even though he was battling a serious disease, he kept his sense of humor until the very end.  He will be deeply missed by his many friends and co-workers.

 

Paul’s family would like for you to remember:  “He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends.”
