Effie Doris Husband, 89, of Silsbee, died Sunday, September 18, 2016.  She was born on October 26, 1926, in Batson, to Rita Richey Carouthers and John Carouthers. 

Survivors include her son, Otis Wayne Fontnow and his wife, Virginia, of Batson; daughter, Karen Odom and her husband, Roger, of Vidor; grandchildren, Sonja Leger and her husband, Paul, of Evadale; Brenda Torbert and her husband, Benny, of Livingston; Matt Cherry and his wife, Michelle, of Vidor; Lisa Coots and her husband, Berl, of Batson; Otis Fontnow and his wife, Josephine, of Votaw; and Keri Smith of Evadale; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Widner, Keith Widner and his wife, April; Haley Leger; Josh Coots and his wife, Tiffany; Brittney Coots; Karin Fontnow; Crissy Fontnow; Otis Wesley Fontnow; Aaron Smith and his wife, Heather; Landon Smith; Jaylyn Cherry; Genson Cherry; Emily Escobar, and Benjamin Torbert; great-great-grandchildren, Zach Deskey, Cameron Gray, Alyssa Gray, and Jude Coots; brothers, James “Jim Carouthers of Saratoga and Willie Gene Carouthers of Batson; and sister, Thelma Reavis of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Otis Lester Fontnow and Wesley Franklin Husband; daughter, Ellen Cherry; granddaughter, Lori Fontnow; great-grandson, Braelin Torbert; and nine brothers and sisters.

A gathering of Doris’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Batson United Pentecostal Church, 24318 FM 770, Batson.  Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the church, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee, with her interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery, Batson.
