Dorothy Ann Durham Marks
December 24, 1935 - August 3, 2016

Dorothy Ann (Durham) Marks, age 80, of Village Mills, Texas, (Wildwood) passed away in her home while surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016, due to complications of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born the youngest daughter to O.J. and Elizabeth Durham on December 24, 1935, in Bridge City, Texas. From that point forward she was the apple of their eyes, as well as the best friend (“best enemy”) of her sister, Flora Glynn (Durham) Gisclar.  Dorothy graduated from Stark High School in 1951, and then from Port Arthur Business College in 1953.

She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-nine years, Shirley L. Marks, whom she did not let a day pass without telling him how much she loved him.  Dorothy is also survived by her two sons; one stepson and their families: Dean and Patsy Marks (Groves, Texas), David and Joy Marks (Phoenixville, Pennsylvania), and Scott and Patty Williams (Carson, Virginia); as well as two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by many friends and extended family (too many to name) but not the least of which are Jackie Glynn and Mickey Gisclar, Daria Gisclar, Mark and Shelley Gisclar and Curney Gisclar.

A gathering of Mrs. Marks' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Broussard's, with her interment to follow at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in honor of Dorothy to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.  To put this request in Dorothy’s words, “Because I said so, that’s why!”
