Doris Jane Brooks, 83, of Anahuac, died Friday, July 15, 2016. She was born on October 16, 1932, in Hankamer, to Martha Lee Kirkwood Moore and Johnny Moore, Jr., and had been a lifelong resident of Anahuac.

Doris enjoyed hunting, fishing, and planting fruit trees. Her favorite pastime was cooking. There was always a meal on the table; and if you were there during meal time, she expected you to sit down and eat.

A gathering of Mrs. Brooks' family and friends will begin at 10:30 a.m., with her funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Broussard's, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. Her interment will follow at Bayshore Cemetery, Anahuac.
