Lois Huddleston, 95, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was born on July 17. 1920, in Bancroft, Louisiana, to Ida Emma Nantz McMahon and Arthur McMahon, and had been a resident of Beaumont since 1926.

Lois is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diann Huddleston, of Lindale, Texas; granddaughters, Lindsay Elizabeth Creager and her husband, Kyle, of Honeoye, New York;  Ivy Rose Showerman, of Leicester, New York; and great-granddaughter, Lillyana Creager, of Honeoye Falls, New York.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-seven years, Charles Edwin Huddleston, Jr.; son, Charles Michael Huddleston; daughter, Patrice Miller; sisters, Mildred Burnham, Judith Adams, and Berniece Mazzola; and brothers, Bill McMahon, Everett McMahon, Arthur McMahon, J.T. McMahon, and Johnny McMahon.

Lois was a devoted wife and mother. She was very active in the PTA, and enjoyed vacations with family and friends. Lois enjoyed sewing and was an extraordinary seamstress. She  also was an exceptional cook and no one was ever disappointed when she extended a dinner invitation or arrived at a gathering with a new cake recipe.

Lois and Charles joined First United Methodist Church in 1942 and have been active members, serving on many committees, church activities, and functions. She especially loved being a member of Faith Class, where she and Charles formed many lifelong friendships.

Lois also maintained an active secretarial career. After graduating from Beaumont High School in 1936, she worked for Southwest Life Insurance, Socony Paint Products, Petroleum Iron Works, Neches Butane Products, Stone & Pitts Architects, eventually retiring with Mobil Oil Corporation in 1986, after seventeen years of service. Retirement was too slow for her, so Lois found part-time work with Forbus Foods and completed seven years of service. She continued to stay busy, volunteering at the church when needed, as well as the Veterans Affairs Clinic for two years.

Lois was a force in motion and few could keep up with her. The family joke was “slow down” or “be patient”. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Mrs. Huddleston’s funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, 701 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
