Charles "Jim" James Stagg

Charles James "Jim" Stagg, 79, of Kountze, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Silsbee Convalescent Center, Silsbee. He was born on May 22, 1937, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Nell Bollar and Walter Stagg. He played football for Pineville High School. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University where he was the president of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and joined Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in 1959.

Upon graduation from the school of forestry, Jim was commissioned and left for his first duty station in the United States Air Force, Pforzheim, Germany where he joined the twelfth radio relay squadron as the communication officer . He held the rank of Captain when discharged from New York in 1966.

Jim worked for the paper industry selling various products to the mills. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to cook, can, and make sausage. Jim's salsas, relishes, and jellies were legendary. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking, Jim was a lector at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Silsbee and spent many hours exchanging recipes with the local cooks. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mark Council #8594. Jim was married to Bobbie Sue Cross in Alexandria, Louisiana. He had three children from that marriage.

If one were to write about Jim, he would have to say: Well done, good and faithful servant.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jane Lang Stagg of Kountze, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Naples, Florida; children, Shane Lorin Stagg of Dallas; Cory Dane Stagg and spouse, Chris Martin Stagg, of Lafayette, Louisiana; Staci Marlo Frazior and her husband, Stephen, of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren, Taylor Austin Stagg, Clare Elizabeth Stagg, and Madelyn Hope Frazior; brother, Walter Stagg and his wife, Barbara, of Glenmore, Louisiana; niece, Kimberly Atkinson of Pineville, Louisiana; nephew, Jason Stagg of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and grandniece, Karly Rae Atkinson. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Stagg's family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. , Friday, May 27, 2016, at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A memorial mass will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 905 North 9th Street, Silsbee. His committal was held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.
