Judith “Judy” Ann
Jones, 64, of Montgomery, formerly of Beaumont, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, in
her home. She was born on August 4, 1951, in Springfield, Illinois, to
Christine Satlar Jones and Donald Jones.
Judy
had a very long and fulfilling career in the education field. Her journey began
as a speech therapist and over the years she moved into the classroom, up to
the position of principal and finally worked as a consultant helping schools
and teachers improve throughout the state of Texas. Judy had an unquenchable
thirst for knowledge and was well regarded among her colleagues in the
educational profession for her leadership skills as well as her expertise. Her
compassionate way and rare sense of humor motivated and inspired both educators and students to strive
to be the best they can be. She was a mentor to many, and taught not only
reading and writing, but also greater life lessons that guided others to
success.
Judy inspired everyone
she ever met to be their best and to always stay positive. She faced life with
strength, beauty, style and a contagious smile. If you had the pleasure of
meeting Judy, you witnessed how her smile and personality could instantly light up a room. She was an amazing mother, Granny, sister,
friend, mentor, and teacher. She had a steadfast relationship with God and her
church. Her relationship with God and her faith in Him gave her strength in her
final year as she battled cancer. She fought a brave fight and always remained
positive. It is a blessing that she is no longer in pain and is finally at
peace at home with her Lord and Savior.
Judy is survived by her
children, Kelley Elliott; Kasey Maher and her husband, Dan; and William
Elliott; grandchildren, Hayes Maher, Hudson Maher, and Ruby Elliott; brother, Gary
Jones and his wife, Maureen; nieces, Kim Hatten and Keri Jones; and many other
loving family members.
The family would like
to thank all of the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, the
employees and nurses of Vitas Hospice and all of her friends and family who
prayed for Judy. She felt every prayer and all of the love that was sent her
way.
