Lillian Abshire Coonrod, 98, of Winnie, died April 11, 2016 at The Arboretum of Winnie. She was born on February 17, 1918, in Kaplan, Louisiana to Margaret Duhon Abshire and Jules Abshire. Lillian had been a long-time resident of the Winnie area. She will be remembered as an excellent Cajun cook.  

Mrs. Coonrod is survived by numerous nieces; nephews and extended family.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-four years, Charlie Coonrod; parents; brothers, Soscine Abshire, Jack Abshire and Lazine Abshire; sisters, Louise Bertrand and Adia Abshire. 

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s. 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
