Allen "Pop" Fontenot, 84, of China, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. He was born on October 24, 1931, in Chataignier, Louisiana, to Maria Darbonne Fontenot and Lindy Fontenot, and had been a longtime resident of China. Allen was a United States Army veteran and he was a retired blacksmith from Eastham Forge, Inc., Beaumont.

Allen is survived by his children, Buddy Fontenot and his wife, Daconda; Mark Fontenot; Tim Fontenot and his wife, Peggy; and Michael Fontenot and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Rusty Robinson, Tobin Fontenot, Brandon Robinson, Nick Fontenot, Ashley Bender, Chase Fontenot, Magan Robinson, Justin Robinson, Tabitha Jones, Tarah Lee, Erica Fontenot, Christina Borghese, Michael Fontenot, Hannah Fontenot, Josh Fontenot, Brian Butler, and Chrissy Butler; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dannis and Billie Fontenot, of Angleton; Grace and Sam Scalisi, of China; and Gloria and Neil Jacobs, of Pinewood.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Lindy Fontenot; wife, Dorothy Fontenot; daughter, Elissa Fontenot; and siblings, Russell Fontenot, Roger Fontenot, Mary Larson, and J-Roy Fontenot.

A gathering of Mr. Fontenot’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China, with his interment to follow at China Cemetery, China.
