Tom E. Lawrence 
August 24, 1931 - March 31, 2016

Tom E. Lawrence, 84 years old, died March 31, due to complications from heart failure and is now residing with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Tom, faithful husband to Doreen Flood Lawrence and beloved father of Bryan Lawrence and his wife, Correna, of Sour Lake, Texas; Maylinn Lawrence Tarbutton and her husband, David, of Richwood, Texas; and Boyd Lawrence of Mandeville, Louisiana. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

 

Tom served his country as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and served his community as the Hamshire-Fannett Industrial Arts teacher for approximately three years and was a Jefferson County Veterans Service Officer for twenty-seven years. A long time officer of the American Legion, Tom traveled much of southeast Texas supporting and advising American Legion posts and helping to organize new posts. Tom was a long time volunteer and professional umpire for area Little League through high school baseball. In his earlier years Tom was a semi-professional fast pitch softball pitcher. He loved God and his family, and was always ready to share with us and others his stories, knowledge, and the experiences he had through his long life. 

 

A gathering of Mr. Lawrence’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016, Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
