George William
“Bill” Childs, 72, of Beaumont, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 27,
2016. Bill was born August 25, 1942, in New Jersey, to Anna Patterson
Hill. He spent the first 4 years of his
life in Asbury Park, New Jersey, with his birth family, before being adopted in
1946 by his father, William Childs and mother, Alice Coombs Childs.
His
father was a leader in the Boy Scouts, and Bill achieved the rank of Eagle
Scout when he was sixteen. He served in the Air Force from 1961 until 1963. He
spent most of his years as a Manager/Contractor for various construction companies.
His hobby’s included the occasional trip to a casino ...any casino... as well
as collecting antique beer memorabilia and advertising art.
A
life-long dog lover, he was preceded in death by his Doberman, Dusty and
survived by his Black Lab, Domino. One of the biggest moments of his life was
traveling to New Jersey in 1998 and being reunited with his brothers and
sisters from his birth family. His daughters located the surviving members of
his birth family and accompanied him on the reunion journey. Bill always said
being adopted was one of the best things that could have happened to him, but
was overjoyed to reunite with his siblings.

daughters, Jeanne, Karen, Lisa, Angie, and Kristina; grandchildren, Lelia,
