Helen Ruth Stone
January 5, 1926 - January 29, 2016

Helen Ruth Clark Stone, 90, of Beaumont, died Friday, January 29, 2016, in Beaumont, Texas as a resident of Summer Place. She was born on January 5, 1926, in Magnolia Springs, Texas to Mary Jean Willey and Robert Griffin Clark. Helen was the first born of six siblings and lived to mark her 90th birthday.

Helen moved to Beaumont in 1945. She worked as an assistant vice president for Bank of America, and retired after twenty-eight years of employment. Helen was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Helen raised two wonderful children as single parent, David Clark Stone and Mary Jane Stone. Helen was very involved in supporting David and his superior athletic qualities which later helped him to excel in baseball and football with the signing and scholarships with Lamar University. David went on to develop a thirty-seven year career in industrial distribution of pipe, valves and fittings, which Helen was extremely proud of. On the other hand Helen couldn’t quite follow Mary Jane, as she developed the talents of her grandfather, Fred C. Stone (Stone and Pitts Architectural Firm) which built many of the historical buildings that are still surrounding Beaumont today. Mary Jane went on to graduate from Lamar University with an Interior Design degree and relocated to Austin, Texas to develop an aspiring Architectural and Interior design business which gave her the opportunity to travel throughout the US and Caribbean to facilitate many projects. All of these things made Helen so very proud of her children’s accomplishments. Because of these accomplishments, she was able to pass with a peaceful heart.

She is survived by her son, David Clark Stone of Beaumont; daughter, Mary Jane Stone of Austin; brothers, Robert G. Clark of Magnolia Springs and George R. Clark and his wife, Jackie, of Kountze; sisters, Annie Laura (Ann) Phelps of Vidor, Betty Jane Bass of Beaumont, and Sarah Kieschnick of Nederland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of Mrs. Stone’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a remembrance at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2016, at Broussard’s. A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016, at Magnolia Springs Cemetery, Magnolia Springs, Texas. An additional gathering of family and friends will be celebrated at the Clark Family Farm where all six brothers and sisters were born.
