Samuel Hoy Marks 
May 7, 1936 - January 16, 2016


Samuel Hoy Marks, 79, of Beaumont, was born May 7, 1936, and passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016. He served in the United States Army, and retired as a Beaumont Firefighter, after thirty-six years, retiring in 1995, as Deputy Chief of the "C" shift.


Sam and Odean met at the YWCA in 1958, when her best friend dropped her ring out the fourth floor window nearly hitting him on the head as he was walking by. He loved the Lord and playing the guitar. 


Sam is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Odean Marks; daughter, Sheri Cook and her husband, Landon Cook, of Warren; son, Spencer Marks and his wife, Tara Marks, of Beaumont; sister, Catherine Griffin; granddaughters, Amber Cook and her fiancé, Brandan Steele; Emma Marks; and Katelin Marks; grandsons, Tyler Cook and his wife, Allison Cook and Stephen Marks; and great-granddaughters, Kennedy Steele and Scarlett Faith.  


He is preceded in death by his son, Steven Marks; sisters, Patti Marks and Mary Harvey; and parents, Lillian and Frank Marks.


A gathering of Mr. Marks’ family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Broussard's, with his graveside service to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Ferrell Cemetery, Colmesneil.
