Bobby Leroy Moore, 72,
of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 20, 2015, in his home. He was born at 7:05
sharp on February 1, 1943, at Hotel Dieu Hospital, in Beaumont, to Mary Evelyn
Earnest Moore and Leroy Jackson Moore.
As a kid, he loved
going to the movie theater with a nickel in his pocket. He was very proud to
say “With only a nickel, I was able to buy a soda pop, some popcorn and see a
movie.” He was also excited to tell you he attended “Bowie Junior High with the
Winter brothers”.
When Bobby turned eighteen
years old, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in
California for boot camp and later drove tanks in Germany. There Bobby managed
to make it on the front of a post card, where he is seen on top of a tank. After
Germany he was stationed in Fort Hood where he was honorably discharged from
the Army in 1964.
Bobby moved to Lampasas,
Texas where he met Rosemary working behind the local soda fountain. He loved to
come in after the grill had been cleaned just before closing time and ask her
to cook a hamburger. They were married October 2, 1965. He always joked around
and picked fun at her. His favorite thing to say was “That’s what you get for
thinkin’ Mary Rose!” Boy did she love that!
At every family
gathering, Bobby was part of the “peanut gallery” sitting in his chair. He
would always pipe in to any conversation being had in the kitchen, just to pick
fun. If he wasn’t picking fun, he was telling people to keep it down so he
could hear his television. He sure loved his football! If it wasn’t football,
it was NASCAR. If neither were on television, you’d bet it was NCIS, PBS, or
listening to doo-wop. If he wasn’t watching television,
he was having breakfast at Market Basket. He would have biscuits and gravy and
grab some coffee. He would visit with the other patrons there. This, he
thoroughly enjoyed.
Every year at Easter,
Bobby would hide eggs high and low. He loved watching the grandchildren and
great grandchild run around finding all the eggs. Living in Southeast Texas,
it’s always warm, so he would hurry us out the door to search so that the
chocolate wouldn’t melt. Also, he made sure to have you count all the eggs that
were found to make sure none were missed. He always made sure to make at least
one egg a challenge to find. Bobby really was always finding a way to pick fun,
and that will be greatly missed! We love you, and miss you so much already. May
you find comfort and peace in the arms of the angels.
