Bobbie Jean Thompson, 71, of Beaumont, went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2015. She was born on August 15, 1944, to Peyton and Norma Smith in Yuma, Arizona. Bobbie graduated from South Park High School in 1962 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont. She retired as an employee of the State of Texas on August 31, 2004. Bobbie loved listening to George Strait, watching The University of Texas football games, and playing with her dog, Kona.

Survivors include her son, Garrick Dodson and Heather Rein of Austin; daughter, Shelly Dodson of Beaumont; brother, David W. Smith and his wife, Diane, of Lumberton; nieces, Heather McGowen and her husband, Bryan, of Andrews and Stacia Newton and her husband, John, of Beaumont; and nephew, Christopher Smith and his wife, Tina, of Beaumont.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald E. Smith.

A gathering of Ms. Thompson’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
