Nelda L. Rakes Morrison Massey, 86, of Beaumont, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015.  Nelda was born on August 26, 1929, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Ann Rakes and R.E. Rakes.

Nelda graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas and attended Southern Methodist University, where she met Jack B. Morrison, from Beaumont, who she married June 5, 1947.  She made Beaumont her home for sixty-six years and assisted with Jack's family business, Morrison Wholesale Grocery, until Jack's death on September 8, 1982.  She married Dr. Jim Massey on October 15, 1983 and participated in his veterinary business, Massey Animal Hospital, until his death on December 4, 2008.  She has been a member of Calder Baptist Church for many years. 

The focus and love of her life was her family.  She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Livengood and her husband, Tom; granddaughter, Michelle Turner and her husband, Ken; grandsons, Scott Livengood and his wife, Mary; Mark Livengood and his wife, Carianne; and Bradley Livengood and his girlfriend, Juli Ewell; great-granddaughter, Zoe Turner; sister, Dodie Skladal and her husband, Conrad; nieces, Stacy Skladal and  Sara Sifford and her husband, Curtis; grandnephew, Grant Sifford; grandniece, Isabelle Sifford; stepson, James Massey and his wife, Susan; and stepdaughter, Marsha Heap and her husband, Jim, and their families.

Nelda is preceded in death by her parents; beloved daughter, Karen Morrison; infant son, Scott Morrison; and nephew, Chris Skladal.   

A graveside service for Mrs. Massey will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2015, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
