Jerry
Don Sandell, 70, resident of Beaumont, passed away at Methodist Hospital in
Houston on November 14, 2015, after a brief illness. He was the son of Huey and
Mary Sandell. Born in Many, Louisiana, Jerry resided in Beaumont for
sixty-eight years.
Jerry
was a 1963 graduate of South Park High School and a 1969 graduate Lamar Tech
with a BS in mechanical engineering. He worked at Texaco from 1969 to 1979,
Beaumont Iron and Metal 1979 to 1989, and Matrix/Richard Design Services for
the past 26 years. Jerry was one of the founding developers of Beaumont youth
soccer, Vice-president of Evening Optimist Little League, past
president of North End Senior League baseball, past elder of Christ Covenant
Church, and a member of Christian Fellowship Worship Center.
Jerry
enjoyed fishing with his son, grandsons and friends. Also, he was an avid reader of world and
military leaders, past presidents and history.
He
is survived by his wife Liz; son, Jerry Don Sandell, Jr., and his wife, Tricia,
of Port Neches; daughter, Britney Sandell Meckfessel and her husband, Kurt, of
Conroe; five grandchildren, Landon, Tate and Brinkley Kathryn Sandell and Ty
and Laney Meckfessel; brother, Randy Sandell and his wife, Charlette, of Spring;
and sister, Sandy Sandell Jessen and her husband, Ricky, of Sherman. He is
preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Michael Sue Sandell Smart.
A gathering of Mr. Sandell's family and friends will
be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2015, at
Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 1:00
p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Christian Fellowship Worship Center, 3950
Pointe Parkway, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial
Park, Beaumont.
