Effie Jeannine Silkwood, 82, of Pleasanton, formerly of Nederland, died Thursday, November 12, 2015. She was born on October 22, 1933, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Cinderella Comeaux and Berchman Savoy.

Effie was the oldest of five children and had three sisters and one brother. She was raised in Church Point, Louisiana until she moved to Texas at the age of five.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Anne Silkwood of Port Arthur, Mary Jean Kelly of Mesquite, and Sandra Lee Todd of Katy; son, Anthony Thomas Silkwood, of Pleasanton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Deborah Romano.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hershall Savoy; and sisters, Becky Herron and Texie Toombs-Largent.

A gathering of Ms. Silkwood’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Broussard’s, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
