Donald Bates Moye 
June 1, 1933 - November 4, 2015

Donald Bates Moye, 82, of Nederland, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015. A native and lifelong resident of the area, he was born on June 1, 1933, in Nederland, to Fannie Belle Stark and Elmer Bates Moye.

Donald attended Texas A&M University and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing. After graduation, he attended Baylor Law School where he received his Juris Doctor degree. Donald worked for the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. He practiced law for fifty-five years in Nederland. Donald was also an elder at Reformed Presbyterian Church in Beaumont.  

Survivors include his love of forty-five years, Paula Moye of Nederland; daughters, Lisa Moye Knight and her husband, Craig, of Medina; Bonnie Carlisle and her husband, Ernie, of Smyrna, Delaware; and Sarah Moye Hardin and her husband, Ronnie, of Groves; grandchildren, Katie, Jacob, Elise, Caleb, Ernie, Abby, Randall, Gali, and Allison; great-grandchildren, Emma, Annie, Claire, Sands, Daisy, Lucy, Kingston, Corrie, and Charlie; brother, Ronnie Moye and his wife, Delores, of Beaumont; beloved mother-in-law, Clarice Simmons of Port Arthur; and a host of other relatives, friends, and his beloved church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Jack Eastin; step-daughter, Denise Hoffpauir; and step-son, Randy Bailey.

A gathering of Mr. Moye’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Broussard’s, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
