Linda “Ann” Barrow
Holtzclaw, 73, of Beaumont, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015. She was born
on June 30, 1942, in Beaumont, to Gussie Lois Wagner Barrow and Sam Lester
Barrow.
Ann lived most of her life in Beaumont and High
Island. She was a 1960 graduate of French High School in Beaumont. Ann also
attended Lamar College of Technology and pledged Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
In 1961, she met Arthur Douglas Holtzclaw at the Pig
Stand on College Street in Beaumont. They dated for two years and were married
on September 3, 1963. For the following fifty-two years, Ann and Doug lived in
Port Neches and Beaumont, where they raised five children, seven grandchildren,
and three great-grandchildren. Ann spent several years as a full-time mom and
also retired from Dillard’s Department Store after fifteen years of employment.
When remembering Ann, her family will forever
remember the years that were filled with friends, family, and laughter;
wonderful memories and sorrowful times; Sunday mornings with Willie Nelson,
Cowboys games, crawfish boils and camping trips; weddings and funerals; trips
to the beach and vacations to New Orleans; redfishing and crabbing, pots of
gumbo and pans of teacakes, unforgettable Christmas mornings and enough love to
fill Texas Stadium.
Ann left us to rejoin the family that preceded her
in death whom she missed dearly; her parents, Gussie and Sam; sister, Norma
Jean Hagner; daughter-in-law, Alyssa Ann Holtzclaw; and grandson, Jacob Tucker
Holtzclaw.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Holtzclaw of
Beaumont; sons, Doug Holtzclaw of San Leon; Mike Holtzclaw; Jerry Holtzclaw, both
of Bevil Oaks; and Todd Holtzclaw of Sour Lake; daughter, Jill Midkiff and her
husband, Doug, of China; sisters, Cheryl LeBlanc and her husband, Richard, of
Beaumont; Kay Gobert and her husband, John, of Austin; grandsons, David Midkiff
and his fiancé, Hillary; Sam Midkiff; Ty Holtzclaw; and Luke Holtzclaw;
granddaughters, Sarah Boudreaux and her husband, Derek; and Caitlin Midkiff and
her fiancé, Wes; great-grandson, Aiden Boudreaux; great-granddaughters, Lily
Boudreaux and Eva Grace Boudreaux; fourteen nieces and
nephews; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
No matter whether we called her Linda Ann, Momma, Granny
or Aunt Ann she will forever be loved, cherished, and missed by the family she
leaves behind.
