Eloise DuBois Wolff
July 15, 1918 - October 19, 2015

Eloise went Home to be with our Lord in the early morning of Monday, October 19, 2015. She began her blessed life in July of 1918. She was the daughter of Dolly and Floyd DuBois of Beaumont.

Floyd was quite a character and a successful businessman in southeast Texas having started First Federal Savings and Loan in 1928 and guided this institution during the turbulent years of the Great Depression. Eloise attended Beaumont High School, Lamar University, and the University of Texas in what she called Heaven (Austin), Texas. At the University of Texas, Eloise was chosen as a beauty and involved in many social activities and clubs. She loved people and people loved her.

She fell in love with and married Bobby Wolff on May 18, 1940. They made an incredible couple and were inspirations to many during their marriage for fifty-six years. They never argued, that I knew of, and Bobby found out early that the way to Eloise’s heart was never forgetting an occasion and always having a grand present to deliver.

She loved Jesus and boldly accepted Him as her Savior at the age of thirty-three in 1951. She taught Sunday school in every church they attended. She was a terrific teacher and also a great reviewer of Christian books.

Bobby and Eloise enjoyed an abundant life with the Sun Oil Company where Bobby worked for thirty-seven years. They moved to Longview in 1975 and eventually retired to Emerald Bay in Bullard. Oh how they loved this active retirement community, and Eloise led the charge in volunteer work, gardening, and civic activities. She also loved her “quiet times” on the porch of their home in Emerald Bay overlooking the beautiful Lake Palestine.

After the death of her beloved Bobby in 1996, she wanted nothing but to stay right there at Emerald Bay until the day she would be called Home. But things change. On the advice of good friends, she moved back to Beaumont in 1999. Beaumont was still a special place, and she had many friends there and so she moved into Calder Woods. The social life at Calder Woods was good, but when Johnny Frank asked her to go out to eat seafood and go dancing, the romance began. She did love seafood and she loved to dance. She also loved to eat homemade cake that was the specialty of Mr. Frank. It did not take long for the romance to escalate to the wedding on January 18, 2002. What a great few years they had as they moved out of Calder Woods into a nice home on Harrison with a pool in the back yard.

In a few short years, it became evident that Johnny and Eloise needed more attention and care than they could afford each other. The move was painful but necessary. She spent the remaining seven years of her life near her son and daughter-in-law in Rockwall, Texas.

She knows she is loved, and she has loved well. She is assured of a place where love never ends. She was prepared to die, so that now she is really prepared to live. What she has been living for since finding Jesus in 1951 is what she is going to. She is also leaving behind a great legacy of precious memories of a life well lived. And now, she has audibly heard the remarkable words promised to those who love Him: “Well done, thy good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:21, NASB)

The Journey continues…
