Margarita
“Margie” Fajardo Yan, 87, of Beaumont, died Sunday, October 18, 2015,
peacefully in her home. She was born in Ilocus Sur Tagudin, Philippines, on May
16, 1928, to Jose and Petra Fajardo.
“Mama
Margie,” as so many called her, was a wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She helped raise and care for many of her
nieces and nephews while in the Philippines, often taking in one of them at a
time and putting them through school. Margie
was a wonderful caregiver, and she played a large role in teaching so many the
life skills that they would use as they grew older.
Margie
moved to Beaumont in 2000 to live with her daughter, Lily Yan Hantrakul, and
her family. During her time in Beaumont, she obtained her United States
Citizenship, which made Margie and her family very proud. She became a devoted member of Calvary
Baptist Church, where she loved participating in her Bible Study group. A proud follower of Jesus Christ, she lived a
fulfilled life as woman of God. Margie visited Disneyworld on three occasions,
in addition to travelling with the family on numerous other vacations. She was able to witness all three of her
grandchildren get married, and was so happy to be able to participate in each ceremony. Thankfully, she was also able to see each of
them start families of their own in recent years.
Margie
leaves behind her daughter, Lily Hantrakul and her husband, Sam; granddaughter,
Tiffany Neale and her husband, Jimmy, of Beaumont; grandson, Paul Hantrakul and
his wife, Lacey, of Beaumont; granddaughter, DeeDee Tou and her husband, Stephen,
of Houston; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Brady, Cameron, and Myers; and her
favorite dog, Buster.
She
is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emiliano Yan; and brother,
Vicente Fajardo.
A
gathering of Mrs. Yan’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday,
November 13, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church Building 2, Room 222, 3650 Dowlen
Road, Beaumont.
