Richard Nelson, 65, of Beaumont, died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Schlesinger Geriatric Center in Beaumont.

A native of Port Arthur, he lived in the Beaumont area all of his life, was a United States Navy Veteran and was a retired appliance manager for K-Mart.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Nelson of Beaumont; his stepson, Brian Stevison and his wife Crystal of Louisiana; his grandchildren, Kevin Stevison, Caitelynn Corley and Caleb Gibbs; his brothers, John Nelson and his wife Nan of Beaumont and Dean Nelson of Nederland; his sister, Bettie Butcher and her husband Mel of Austin; his uncle, Edwin Gorton of Lumberton; his Godson, Holden Gray; his mother-in-law, Annie Van Schoubroek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Broussard’s Chapel, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will be 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening prior to service.
