A.P.
Verret, Jr. passed at the age of 96, in the early morning hours on Thursday,
September 17, 2015, with his family at his side. He was born on May
14, 1919, in Saratoga, to parents, Amy and A.P. Verret, Sr.
A.P. Verret, Jr. was employed by Union
Oil of California and Pure Oil in Nederland, Texas. Upon retirement at the age
of 62, he and his wife were very active with Round and Square Dance groups in Southeast
Texas. They traveled the United States extensively sightseeing and dancing
including a road trip from Southeast Texas to Alaska. He served his country in the United States Army
during World War II during campaigns through France and Germany and had many
stories during his tour of duty.

was a very spiritual and devoted member of the Catholic community in Beaumont
and Austin, Texas. He will be dearly
missed by many for his devotion to his faith, his sense of humor, and his love
of life particularly when it involved dancing. We were very lucky to have him
in our lives for so long.
For
the past four years A.P. Verret, Jr. has been a resident of Parsons House in
Austin and previously resided in Beaumont at his home and later for five years
in Collier Park, an assisted living facility.
He
is survived by his children, A.P. Verret III and his wife, Janet, of Blacklick,
Ohio; and Andrew Verret and Denise DeLaGarza and her husband, Leo, all of Austin;
eleven grandchildren, Kathy Coffee, Merrie Montondon, Amy Godfrey, Julie
Verret, Alex DeLaGarza, Eliana DeLaGarza, Sara Farmer, Kristina Sandlin, Andrew
Verret, Jr., A.P Verret IV, and Timothy Verret;
a full complement of great-grandchildren round out the family, Patrick
and Elizabeth Noack, Nathan, Christopher, and Claire Montondon, Jason and Jodie
Verret-Walker, Branden and Ashlyn Godfrey, and Caroline and Jillian Farmer.
He
was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Juanita; sons, Paul and
Alan Verret; and siblings, Mildred, Pearl, Myrtle, Louise, George, Milton,
Charles, and Thomas.
A
gathering of Mr. Verret’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his
Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605
North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at
10:30 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2015, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church,
6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with his interment to Magnolia Cemetery,
Beaumont.
