Albert "Coonie" A. Clark 
June 12, 1932 - September 16, 2015

Albert A. “Coonie” Clark, 83, of Kountze, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015.  He was born on June 12, 1932, in Port Neches, to Josephine LeBlanc and Marcel Clark. Albert was a 1950 Port Neches High School graduate and United States Army National Guard veteran. He was employed with Texas Department of Transportation with over twenty years of service; then he and his best friend, Craig Copeland, started Southeast Texas Surveyors. He and his wife Eugenia were baptized in Village Creek May 20, 1960.  He loved his wife and family immensely and taught them how to live Christian lives.  Albert was a longtime member and deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Honey Island. He also served as a counselor for inmates at the Hardin County Jail.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Angela Cherry of Kountze and Lydia Morse of Wildwood;  grandchildren, Tara Perry and her husband, Jade and Brooke Hawkins and her husband, Russell, all of Buna; Richard Cherry and his wife, Krystal, of Dayton; and Rodney Cherry and his wife, Casandra, of Kountze; great-grandchildren, Christy Lynn Cherry, Hannah Cherry, Austin Adams, Jaden Perry, Rylan Perry, Allie Perry, Gavin Hawkins, Rowdy Cherry, and Riley Hawkins; brother, Sidney Clark of Nederland; and sister, Marie LaPointe of Bridge City.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eugenia Clark; and siblings, Leon Clark, Lou Ledet, Hazel Prejean, Wilmer “Slim” Clark, and Nellie LaPointe.

 

A gathering of Mr. Clark’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
