John Ray Dashnaw, 70, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015.  He was born on March 7, 1945, in Ogdensburg, New York, to Hilda Thayer Dashnaw and Wiliam H. Dashnaw.  John was a United States Marine veteran and was retired from the sawmill industry.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Dashnaw; son, Ray Dashnaw and his wife, Roxann, of Nashville, Tennessee; and siblings, Howard Dashnaw and his wife, Beverly; Betty Kentner; Arloween Eurto and her husband, Jack; James Dashnaw and his wife, JoAnn; Bertha Haight and her husband, Gary; Gary Dashnaw and his wife, Ginger; and Larry Dashnaw and his wife, Toung.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Yerdon; and brothers, Charles and Julius Dashnaw.

A gathering of Mr. Dashnaw’s family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, 324 New York Avenue, Ogdensburg, New York.  His graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Pine Hill Cemetery, Ogdensburg, New York.  Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
