James William Sherman, 87, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015. He was born on September 18, 1927, to Bessie Norris Sherman and William Sherman, and had been a longtime resident of the Beaumont area. James was a United States Army veteran and a retired Optician with American Optical.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Lorene Sherman; daughter, Patricia Martin, of Webster; grandchildren, Richard Martin and his wife, Leslie, of Webster; Michele Savell and her husband, James, of LaPorte; and Courtney Sherman, of League City; and great-grandchildren, Paige Martin, Amber Martin, Brandon Martin, and Ethan Savell.

James is preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Sherman; brother, Doyle Sherman; and granddaughter, Bronwyn Sherman.

A graveside service for Mr. Sherman will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
