James Edsel Owens 
June 8, 1925 - September 6, 2015

James Edsel Owens, 90, of Beaumont, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Nederland. He was born on June 8, 1925, to Ruth Patterson Owens and George Washington Owens, in Paris, Texas. James was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II with the Black Cat Squadron at the Guadal Canal.

 

Survivors include his son, Bill Owens and his wife, Joyce, of Beaumont; daughter, Julie Davis and her husband, Stephen, of Nederland; son-in-law, John W. Pace of Buna; grandchildren, April Morreale and her husband, Richard, of Beaumont; Bradley Owens of Beaumont; Captain Travis Davis USMC and his wife, Chrissi of New Bern, North Carolina; Katie Davis of Port Neches; and Sara Hillin and her husband, Brian, of Beaumont; and great-grandchildren, Logan Morreale, Luke Morreale, Landon Morreale, Layton Morreale, Cayden Owens, Parker Owens, Brody Owens, and Atticus Hillin.        

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline Owens; daughter, Lynda Pace; and three sisters.

 

A gathering of Mr. Owens’ family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Broussard’s. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
