Shirley A.
Maxwell Sanders, 79, passed away on August 15, 2015. She was born to Gertrude and Ross Maxwell, on
November 12, 1935, in Beaumont Texas.
She was married to Floyd H. Sanders Jr. for forty-one years. Shirley
resided with her daughter Elisabeth A. Sanders, in Dickinson, Texas, since
2009; they previously lived in Crystal Beach.
Shirley was a
graduate of Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in
Education; she also obtained two Masters Degrees from East Texas State
University in Special Education. Shirley
devoted her career to special needs children as a teacher and a diagnostician
in the Texas Public School System.
She was an avid
reader, excellent cook, animal lover, and a loyal Texas A&M fan. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother. She loved the beach
life!
Shirley is
survived by her children, Floyd H. Sanders III and his wife, Connie; Ross
Sterling Sanders; and Elisabeth A. Sanders;
grandchildren, David Ross Sanders and his wife, Gloria; Floyd H. Sanders IV and
his wife, Erica; and Jesse E. Brazier and his wife, Crystal;
great-grandchildren, Levi Joseph Sanders, Alexander Hans Sanders, Autumn Gayle
Brazier, and Colton Emmett Brazier.
She is preceded
in death by her parents; husband; and grandson, Michael Sterling Sanders.
A graveside service for Mrs. Sanders will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Forest Lawn Memorial
Park, 4955 Pine Street, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin
Avenue, Beaumont.
