Mary Caldwell Craus 
January 1, 1936 - July 13, 2015

Mary C. Craus, 79, of Village Mills, died Monday, July 13, 2015.  She was born on January 1, 1936, in Camden, Arkansas

 

Her family moved to Vidor, where she attended school and graduated in 1954.  Mary attended Lamar Tech where she graduated from business school.  She worked for Gulf States Utility Company and later work for Arthur Dooley and Son for many years as secretary to Rue Dooley.

 

Mary and her husband, John, bought property in Wildwood and built their home on the golf course in 1982.  She went to work for Wildwood Real Estate where she worked until she retired.  After retirement she and John traveled the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

 

Survivors include her husband, John Craus; children, Mike Salim, Jr., Charles “Mitch” Salim, Suanne Salim, John R. Craus, Jr., Jeanie Craus Wiggins, Laura Craus Trahan, and Darryl Craus; and niece, Susan Hogan.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

 

A gathering of Mary’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Wildwood Baptist Church, 100 Wildwood Drive, Village Mills, under the direction of Broussard’s, Kountze. A reception will be immediately after the service at the Mitchell Center of Wildwood Baptist Church.  Her committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont

 

All John’s golfing buddies for the last thirty-two years will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

Memorials contributions can be made in honor of Mary to the Wildwood Baptist Church, 100 Wildwood Drive, Village Mills, Texas 77663, where she was a member for thirty-three years.
