Stillman "Swede" C. Bushnell 
June 27, 1925 - July 10, 2015

Stillman C. “Swede” Bushnell, 90, of Winnie, died Friday, July 10, 2015. He was born June 27, 1925, in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, to Eleanor W. and Stillman M. Bushnell and had been a longtime resident of the Winnie area.

 

Swede was a WWII United States Army veteran, a member of the forgotten convoy of Murmansk, and a crewman on the U.S.S. City of Omaha. He retired after forty years as a chief engineer with the Merchant Marines.

 

Mr. Bushnell is survived by sons, Todd Bushnell and his wife, Diane, of San Antonio; and Thomas Bushnell and his wife, Robyn, of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Robert Bushnell and his fiancé, Gabrielle Van Wright, of Houston; Sarah Suydam and her husband, Scott, of Portersville, Pennsylvania; Lorrie Bushnell and Jamie Bushnell, both of Port Arthur; Sondra Smith and her husband, Bill, of Winnie; and Shelia Hampshire and her husband, Wesley, of Winnie; great-grandchildren, Robert Bushnell, Jr., Justin Jolley, Austin Jolley and his fiancé, Stephanie Green, Marie Hampshire and Kynsleigh Jolley.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and great-grandson, Avery Bushnell.


Burial of Mr. Bushnell’s cremated body will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Trout Creek Cemetery, Kirbyville, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
