Jerald “Jerry” Arnold, 78, of Nederland died Saturday, July 11, 2015. A native and lifelong resident of the area, he was born on August 1, 1936, in Nederland, to Edith Lee Meridith and Gillum Barnett Arnold.

Jerald worked as a pipefitter before working at the John Gray Institute at Lamar University. He was a member of the Pipefitter’s Local 195.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Arnold of Nederland; sons, Larry Arnold and his wife, Rita, of El Dorado, Kansas; and Gillum Arnold and his wife, Dynell and Carroll Arnold, all of Nederland; daughters, Lauri Arnold and her partner, Kandi Calder, of Beaumont; and Ouida Babb and her husband, Steven and Sarah Engerran and her husband, Roger, all of Port Neches; sisters, Darnell Hansen of Nederland and Latrell Weitzel of Beaumont; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A gathering of Mr. Arnold’s family and friends will be at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
