Nana was born on
September 18, 1916, in Port Arthur. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High
School and married Willis Honeycutt in 1935. Together, they had a beautiful
family consisting of three daughters; three sons-in-law; six grandchildren; and
four and a half great-grandchildren (the “half” is due on her ninety-ninth
birthday). Marjorie was the center of this loving family to whom she was
totally devoted. They all affectionately referred to her as “Nana.” Nothing
gave Nana more joy than the many years she spent at “Holly” beach with
family and friends, where she enjoyed fishing, crabbing,
and most of all, cooking the catch for her family.
Marjorie is survived by her
daughters, Edith Barclay and her husband, Bill “Cooter” and Dottie Schulz and
her husband, Gene, all of Beaumont; and Sue Griffith and her husband, Bryan, of
Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Kelli Barclay, Lori Barclay, Ellen
Schulz, Meredith Hise, Derek Myers, and Reggie Griffith; and
great-grandchildren, Avery Hise, Will Hise, Ty Griffith, and Greyson Myers.
She is preceded in death by her
husband, Willis Honeycutt.
The family gives thanks to God
for so many wonderful, vibrant years with Nana. We are grateful to all of her
caregivers especially Martha Williams and Slavka Gianolopulu, whose
devotion and friendship to our Nana has touched our hearts deeply.
Marjorie passed away Wednesday,
July 8, 2015, at her home in Beaumont, surrounded by her loving family. She
will be missed but will forever live on in the spirit and soul of every person
who was fortunate enough to know her.
