Virginia "Ginny" Guthrie Taylor Barrow
March 13, 1926 - July 6, 2015

Virginia “Ginny” Guthrie Taylor Barrow, 89, of Beaumont, died Monday, July 6, 2015, at Christus Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont. She was a native of Burkesville, Kentucky, and moved to Texas in 1946, to marry the “love of her life” Eugene “Gene” Barrow.

Ginny always said that her main goal in life was to be a homemaker and mother, and there was no doubt she reached that goal by being the greatest and best at both. She was an exceptional wife, mother, and friend to so many that knew and loved her. Ginny was a fantastic cook and known especially for her chocolate chess and coconut pies. She loved to shop, decorate her home, and never missed her daily devotional Bible reading.

Ginny never met anyone that didn’t tell her what a wonderful smile she had. Even in her last hours she had a smile for anyone that came in her hospital room. Ginny attended church regularly and never missed. Only illness prevented her from going.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly LaRocca and her husband Nick, of Beaumont; brother, Harold Guthrie, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; granddaughter, Donya Shea; great-granddaughter, Logan Shea, both of Houston; aunt Jo Ann Neathery, of Bakerton, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Bertha Hoffpauir, of Beaumont and Mildred Fountain, of Winnie; half sister, Ina Petro, of Indianapolis, Indiana; half brothers, Carlos Taylor and Clifton Taylor, both of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Malcolm Taylor and Buford Taylor, both of Burkesville, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.

Ginny is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Barrow; son, Donnie Barrow; and parents, Pauline and Wheeler Taylor.

A gathering of Mrs. Barrow’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 South Major Drive, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at High Island Cemetery, High Island.
