Verlene “Lynn” Oliver, 84, of Buna, died Monday, June 29, 2015.  She was born on June 24, 1931, in Pineland, to Maggie Strickland Wilburn and Lihue Tandy Wilburn.  Verlene worked as a beautician at Lynn’s Beauty Shop and Higgonbotham Drug in Buna.  She also loved to portray Minnie Pearl on the Charlie Pruitt Show at the Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont.

Survivors include her daughters, Becky Wilkinson and her husband, Joe, of Buna, and Debra Hoose of Sour Lake; four grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Allen Oliver.

A gathering of Mrs. Oliver’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 1155 Highway 62, Buna, with her interment to follow at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.
