Sharon "Sherry" Lynn Allen Gabourel 
January 22, 1965 - June 25, 2015

Sharon “Sherry” Lynn Allen Gabourel, 50, of Katy died Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was born on  January 22, 1965, in Beaumont, to Carolyn Ann Bauer and William F. Allen.

Sherry was an excellent and active student in school. She was in the National Honor Society, student council, and various other clubs. She played the flute in band and was extremely athletic. She was a dancer and took dancing for years. Sherry graduated from Nederland High School in 1985 and went on to graduate from Lamar University in 1988 with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. After graduation, she went to work as a computer programmer and analyst. Sherry met Bruce Gabourel of Nederland and moved to Houston before settling down in Katy. She learned to love cooking and became very good at it. Sherry had what she called her safe place which was at the beach, a beach cabin at Roll Over Pass that her Grandpa Bauer built. She was so loved by family and friends and will leave an empty space in their hearts.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-five years, Bruce Gabourel of Katy; parents, Carolyn and Bill Allen of Nederland; brothers, William Jay Allen of Nederland and Kent Michael Allen and his wife, Casey, of Round Rock; sister, Jana Kay McFarland of Nederland; nieces and nephews, Danny Allen and his wife, Uyen; David and Jason Allen; Aaron McFarland; Colton Weisbrod; and Grace and Joy Allen; and great-nieces and nephews, Unity Sophia; Lacy and David Allen; and Wake Weisbrod.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Josie Guarnere and Willie Bauer and Francis and Jack Allen; and beloved dog, Josie.

A gathering of Mrs. Gabourel’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland. Interment of her cremated body will be at a later date at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
