Roy "Pawpaw" Dean Hayes

Roy Dean “Pawpaw” Hayes, 64, of Beaumont, died Thursday, June 4, 2015. He was born on January 2, 1951, in Warren, Arkansas, to Marie Smith Hayes and Curtis Hayes. Hayes’ family moved to Port Arthur when Roy was five years old. He married his high school sweetheart, Alice in 1968. For twenty years he worked as a pipefitter at Bethlehem Steel. Then Roy went to Lamar for appliance repair, and became a very handy maintenance man. Roy enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, watching the History Channel, playing poker every Friday night, and was all for the legalization of marijuana. He was the happiest with family and friends gathered around. Roy is survived by his mother, Marie Hayes; wife, Alice Moore Hayes; sons, Roy “Bud” Hayes II, Curtis “Danny” Hayes, and Richard Hayes; daughter, Sally “Ginny - Pooh” Toombs; son-in-law, Timothy Toombs; daughters-in-law, Julia Hayes, Amanda Hayes, and Heather Hayes; sister, Carolyn Bailey; brothers, Michael Hayes, Cecil Hayes, and Jerry Hayes; sister-in-law, Loretta Hayes; grandsons, Joshua Hayes, Jeremy Hayes, Cameron Hayes, Jared Hayes, Curtis Michael Hayes, Connor Hayes, Troy Toombs, and Hayden Toombs; granddaughter, Cadence “KK” Hayes, granddaughter-in-law, Blake Hayes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis H. Hayes; and brother, Curtis Lynn Hayes. A memorial service for Mr. Hayes will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. |
