Luke Herbert Kunefke, 82, died Monday, June 1, 2015, after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 14, 1932, in Winnie, to Emily Hargraves Kunefke and Luke H. Kunefke and had been a lifetime resident of the Winnie area. Luke was a retired millwright with Brown and Root.

Mr. Kunefke  is survived by daughter, Lois Arlene Benoit, and her husband, Darrell, of Mont Belvieu; son, Kent Lee Kunefke, and his wife, Brenda, of Baytown; grandchildren, Jennifer Rierson, Michael Benoit, Kevin Benoit, Sean Griffis, Ryan Griffis and Kasey Kunefke; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Emily Mahon of Winnie; and brother, Melvin Paul Kunefke of Missouri and Raymond Kunefke of Winnie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Kay Kunefke; sister, Leona Stengler and brother, Chester Henry Kunefke.

A gathering of Mr. Kunefke’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
