The
wonderful and beloved Elizabeth Louise Karnicki left her earthly family too
soon on May 8, 2015, while doing what she loved most, traveling with her
husband of forty-six years, Dr. Daniel Casimir Karnicki. Known to her friends around
the world as Liz, she had an absolutely fabulous life.
“Cookie”,
as her father called her, was born January 18, 1946, to Florence and Eddie
Williams, in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Madonna High School, studied
biology and sociology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, achieved her
master’s degree at Lamar University, and continued her education with a
Doctorate of Psychology and Adult Learning at the University of San Francisco.
Her
thirst for life and learning, her spunk and sense of adventure, led her to
travel around the globe. From her
family’s native Poland to her recent adventures in Cuba, she got to visit more
of what this world has to offer than most. Liz shared this passion with her
husband, Dan, and three children, Dawn, Jill and Daniel, Jr.
After
retiring from various professions that ultimately helped others become better
people, she developed a love for the game of bridge,
achieving the ranking of Life Master. Liz
continued to grow and learn with a new group of friends at the Beaumont Bridge
Studio, who quickly become her extended family. She also served as a
congressional advocate for the AARP.
Liz
is survived by her immediate family: husband, Daniel; children, Dawn, Jill, and
Danny, Jr.; brother, Larry Williams; son-in-law, Barry Sommer; and spoiled dogs,
Bolero and Bubba. She deeply loved her grandchildren, Caitlin, Clinton, and
Courtney; and great-grandchildren, Summer and Jackson who have brought her
recent joy.
A
memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Karnicki will be 2:00 p.m.,
Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, #4 Bayou Brandt, Suite B, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
