Wilfred “Plut” Abshire, 94, of Port Arthur, died Saturday, May 2, 2015. He was born on September 18, 1920, in Morse, Louisiana, to Anna Villijohn and Theo Abshire.

Wilfred was a United States Army/Air Force veteran having served in World War II. He retired from Texaco as a machinist after thirty-eight years of service.

Survivors include his daughter, Diana Abshire of Port Arthur; sons, Kirty Abshire and his wife, Terry, of Mount Olivet, Kentucky and Lee Abshire and his wife, Nancy, of Rapid City, South Dakota; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Abshire; three sisters; and two brothers.

A gathering of Mr. Abshire’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015, at St. Therese, The Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur. His interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
