Anne Coleman Wallace
November 3, 1925 - April 13, 2015

Anne Coleman Wallace departed this life Monday, April 13, 2015. Born Margaret Anne Coleman to Florine and James "Nemo" Coleman of Asheville, North Carolina, on November 3, 1925. Anne was a loving wife to Dr. L. Scott Wallace, of Beaumont, and a dedicated mother of five.

Anne spoke with a soft southern lilt and drew everyone in with her charm and wit. She grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina but grew to love the deep greens of her Southeast Texas home as well as hill country wildflowers and Blue Bell ice cream. Anne was a talented

cook and brought a gourmet touch to comfort food and southern specialties. Her Carolina pulled pork barbecue was a family favorite.

Anne had an eye for decor and furnishings, and always maintained a beautiful, comfortable home admired by friends and family. She loved her home state of North Carolina and visited often. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. Holidays and special occasions were celebrated with close relations gathered, dogs always welcome. Family gave her strength and a reason to keep hoping for the next gathering.

She will be remembered for the way she faced adversity with grace and humor. Her steadfast care and compassion for her husband Scott in his later years is a testament to devotion. We will forever treasure her example of love, tenderness and fearless spirit. Her tireless attention to unity and faith leaves an indelible legacy in our hearts.  Anne was a charter member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, a member of Beaumont Junior League and Jefferson County Medical Auxiliary, and served for many years as a volunteer at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. She attended University of North Carolina and Asheville Biltmore College.

Anne is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Dr. L. Scott Wallace; her beloved

twin, Frances Thompson, with whom she shared a resilient bond; and grandson,

Andrew Wallace.

She is survived by her five children, L. Scott Wallace, Jr. and his wife, Tara; Margi Chase and her husband, Rocky; Marilyn Bell and her husband, Tom; John Wallace and his wife, Ana; and Dr. Philip Wallace and his wife, Carrie; eleven grandchildren, Ian Wallace and his wife, Karen; Ellen Gray and her husband, Isaac; Margaret Montes and her husband, Erick; Lexie Boudreaux and her husband, Aaron; Betsy Amis and her husband, Parker; Sterrett Bell and his wife, Christy; Loring Barchus and her husband, Brandon; Catherine Wallace; Sarah Wallace; Scotty Wallace; and Audrey Wallace; Anne was also a proud great-grandmother to many great-grandchildren, Vivienne and Annie Boudreaux, Charlie Amis, Holden Barchus, Kaleb Wallace, Isla Gray, Brody Wallace, Trinity Levins, Andi Cannon, Penelope Montes; two sisters, Mary Jane Zimmermann of Denver, Colorado and Kitty Neff of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The fourth floor oncology staff at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth treated Anne like family. Dr. Jeremy Huff and Professional Hospice provided great help and comfort in her final days. Mercie Setele and Lilibeth Campbell were invaluable givers of compassionate care.
