Artie Portier, 92, of Port Acres, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015. She was born on November 9, 1922, in Fred, Texas, to Josie Gore and Rod McInnis. Artie was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres, and a former Sunday School teacher.

She is survived by her daughters, Joann Schurwon and her husband, Frank, of Texas City and Cynde Sonnier and her husband, Lynton, of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Debbie Bartlett and her husband, Larry, of Texas City; Steve Schurwon of Florida; Frank Schurwon, Jr. and his wife, Deanne, of Texas City; and Jennee Trader and her husband, Lee, of Mont Belvieu; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Artie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eric Portier; and grandson, Patrick Schurwon.

A gathering of Mrs. Portier’s family and friend will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 Canal Street, Port Acres, with interment to follow at Frank’s Branch Cemetery, Fred, Texas.
