Azelie Marie “Dee Dee” Martel, 77, of Nome, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, in her home. She was born on October 9, 1937, in Beaumont, to Dora Mire LeJune and Euger LeJune.

Dee Dee is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Shelby Martel, of Nome; son, Richard Martel and his wife, Gail, of Winnie; daughters, Sandy Martel and Diana Spivey and her husband, Darren, all of Nome; sisters, Lita Deets, Hazel Trahan, Jeanette Cisero, Shirley Ann Bertrand, Katheran Touche, Lulu Evans, and Bobbie Schooley; grandchildren, Tiffnie Gallier, Miranda Hendrix, Billy Joe Gallier, Keith Spivey, Nikki Spivey, Leslie Mims, and Hank Hardgraves; and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wilda Mae Whitehead.

A Rosary will be recited for Mrs. Martel at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, February, 27, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at China Cemetery, China.
