Faye J. Crowell
April 8, 1924 - February 13, 2015

Faye J. Crowell, 90, of Silsbee, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, at Silsbee Convalescent Center.  Faye was born on April 8, 1924, in Herman, Arkansas, to William Larry Jones and Roxie Ella Mae Bearden.

At an early age, Faye and her family moved to Dubach, Louisiana.  Faye graduated from Dubach High School at the age of 17 and soon married her sweetheart, Onnie Lee “Red” Crowell, on October 18, 1941.  They moved to Chatham, Louisiana, where all four of her children were born:  Curtis Lee, Gayle Marie, Brenda Faye and Onnie D’Wayne.

In 1957, the family moved to Ruston, Louisiana, where Red worked for the sawmill and Faye managed Ellis Department Store.

After Onnie Lee passed away in 1993, Faye moved to Texas two years later to be close to her children.  She built a new home on Ponderosa Drive where D’Wayne and Gayle both lived.  She lived there until June, 2014, when she entered Silsbee Convalescent Center.

Faye’s favorite hobby was quilting with her sister Pearl.  They spent many hours working on quilts, and Faye continued quilting after moving to Texas.  Her legacy will be remembered through all the beautiful quilts she made for her grandchildren.

Faye is survived by her sons, Curtis Lee Crowell and his wife, Barbara, of Lumberton and  D’Wayne Crowell and his wife, Jan, of Silsbee; daughters, Gayle Dashnaw and her husband, John and Brenda Frazier and husband, Ron, all of Silsbee; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two-great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Onnie Lee Crowell; sisters, Minnie Roland, Lottie Jones, Polly Gleason, Pearl Skipper, Dolly Brand and Ruby Lyles; and brothers, Delmer Jones, Kirby Jones and Ray Jones.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gentiva/Odyssey Hospice for their care of Faye.  Also, a special thanks to Jo Reeves and her staff at Silsbee Convalescent Center for their excellent care and compassion.
