Edythe Letitia Turney 
November 28, 1919 - February 9, 2015

Edythe Turney, 95, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

 

Edythe was born in McDade, Texas, on November 28, 1919. She lived in Vidor for thirty-six years, where she raised her children. She spent the last twenty-four years of her retirement in Beaumont.

 

Being an avid reader, working crossword puzzles, and sewing were some of her favorite past times. But cooking for large family gatherings was her most enjoyment.

 

Survivors include her two daughters, Victoria Thomas and her husband, Larry, of Beaumont and Rebecca Huebner and her husband, Jim, of Spicewood; grandchildren, Russell Huebner and his wife, Johnell, of Kyle; Kelly Huebner Goldfarb and her husband, Jared, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chad Thomas of Beaumont; Amanda Thomas of Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain; and Christina Thomas of Houston; and six great-grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Turney; and her sister, Louise Alcede.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Turney’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 13, 2015, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
