Dorothy Jean Rambin Amaimo 
August 24, 1929 - February 7, 2015

 

Dorothy Jean Rambin Amaimo, 85, of Beaumont, died Saturday, February 7, 2015. She was born on August 24, 1929, in Appleby, to Lottie G. McDonald Rambin and Robert Emory Rambin.

 

She was raised on the family farm in Nacogdoches County. Dorothy attended Cedar Bluff School and Garrison High School.  When she was a sophomore in high school the family moved to Vidor.  She finished school at Vidor High School.  She married Rosco Edward Parker in 1944 and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and they had one daughter, Judith Ann Parker. She divorced Rosco in 1947 and moved back to Vidor, Texas.

 

Dorothy went to work for Montgomery Ward in Beaumont, Texas, where she met Sam Amaimo, Sr. and they were married in December of 1949.  They lived in Beaumont and had three children, Sam Louis Jr., Mary Angelique, and Robert Sam.  They were happily married for fifty-five years, before Sam passed away in 2005. 

 

Dorothy was a stay at home mom for many years devoting her time to raising her family.  When her children were old enough she went back to school to fulfill a long time dream of becoming a nurse. She accomplished her dream of becoming a nurse, and went to work at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont.  Dorothy found her calling as a nurse and touched the lives of many people. She was loved by all who knew her. Dorothy retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital after thirty-nine years of service.  Nursing was her passion and she loved helping others. 

 

Dorothy was a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church.  She worked with the Ladies Altar Society for many years. Dorothy had many talents and hobbies.  She was an excellent seamstress and spent many hours sewing for family and friends.  Dorothy loved photography and always had a camera with her.  She also enjoyed scrap booking, cooking, quilting, and gardening. Dorothy was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, endless generosity, and love for her family. Dorothy will be forever in our hearts. 

 

Survivors include her sons,  Sam Louis Amaimo, Jr. of Beaumont and Robert Sam Amaimo and his wife, Laura, of Nacogdoches; daughters, Judith Ann Ramb and her husband, Wilhelm K. Ramb, Jr., of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Mary Angelique Wendt and her husband, Jeffrey, of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Wilhelm K. Ramb III, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Kenneth Ramb  and his wife, Kay, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; Jessica Wendt,  of Austin; Justin Wendt, of The Woodlands; Emily Amaimo, of Austin; Joshua Amaimo, of Buna; and Savannah Nabor and Hunter Nabor, both of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Ramb, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Katelynn Throckmorton, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Ross White, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Joshua Carlson, and Jorden Carlson, both of Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

 

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-five years, Sam Amaimo, Sr.; and brothers, Robert Emory Rambin, Jr. and Franklin Dewitt Rambin.

A Trisagion for Mrs. Amaimo will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 690 North 15th Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
