Carol Vernum, 65, of Beaumont, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on February 28, 1949, in Dewitt, Arkansas, to Howard and Cecile Jones Neumann.

Carol is survived by her parents; sister, Betty Land and her husband, Robert; daughters, Tracy Brdecka and her husband, Johnnie; Lisa Chapa and her husband, Jerry; and Michelle Bacca; son, Corey Ritter; several grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Howard Dean Steele.

A gathering of Mrs. Vernum’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont. Her cremation was handled under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
