Minnie Merle Ashworth 
July 21, 1928 - February 5, 2015

Minnie Merle Ashworth, 86, of Bridge City, died Thursday, February 4, 2015.  She was born on July 21, 1928, in Bon Wier, to Imelda Dougherty Boyett and George Boyett. 

Minnie was a dedicated member of the United Pentecostal Church of Bridge City.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at Nobles Department Store and later as a grocery clerk at Howard’s Big Star, Dick’s Grocery, Weingarten’s, and Price Lo.  Through her work she had contact with many individuals and made numerous friends.  For many years, she frequently enjoyed playing board games with “The Chicken Foot Club”. She was very competitive and loved to win.  With her health declining, Minnie became a resident of Silsbee Oaks Healthcare in 2007 where she remained until her passing.  Minnie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Lynn Young and her husband, Russell, of Mauriceville and Nathan Ashworth and his wife, Pam, of Auburn, Washington; grandchildren, Bobby Ashworth, Jason Ashworth and his wife, Missi, Vanessa Wintner and her husband, Gregg, Rodney Young and his wife, Kristie, Damon Young, Monica Smith and her husband, Mike, Nathan Joel Ashworth, Lisa Howland, Cindy Bowman and her husband, Nathan, and Matt Howland and his wife, Cherie; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Gervis Ashworth, Sr.; son, Robert Gervis Ashworth, Jr.; brothers, Gene Boyett and Earl Boyett; and sister, Ruby Burkett.

A gathering of Mrs. Ashworth’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2015, at United Pentecostal Church of Bridge City, 2056 West Roundbunch Road, Bridge City, Texas 77611, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee.  Her interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bridge City.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation, the abundant love and exceptional care provided these many years to Minnie by the entire staff of Silsbee Oaks Healthcare.
