Helen Laughman Clawson
December 31, 1922 - February 2, 2015

Helen Laughman Clawson died peacefully on February 2, 2015, at her residence in Pasadena. Helen was born on December 31, 1922, in Fannett.

Her accomplishments in life were many.  At the age of 40 she attended Lamar University in Beaumont majoring in education and after graduation went on to teach for the Port Neches Independent School District, retiring from there. Her son, Howard, was in attendance at the same time and relished the fact that in 1963 his mother was creating her life path. Helen loved to travel and went abroad several times, choosing Italy as her favorite destination, delighting relatives with gifts and marvelous tales from afar.

It is with great comfort to know of her strong faith in God and her love for her church. She was an accomplished singer and a featured vocalist at church functions and social events.  Her love of life and those around her was only surpassed by her sense of humor and quick wit. Helen lived life to the fullest and will be missed tremendously.

Helen is survived by sisters, Hesper Hardy Melancon of Pasadena and Theresa Krug of Ft. Myers Florida; granddaughters, Hadra Tackett and her husband, William and Amy Molina and her husband, Miguel; they were the light of “Muff’s” eyes as little girls; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Trace of Stephenville, and Mateo, Sabine Isabel, and Mariana Lucia of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews, their spouses, and children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hesper Leger Rohwedder and stepfather, Frank Rohwedder of Beaumont; father, Elouise Leger; cherished son, Howard McDaniel of Nederland; sister, Marguerite Caldwell of St. Ann, Missouri;  brother, Frank Rohwedder, Jr. of Beaumont; and husbands, George Laughman and Richard Clawson of Beaumont.

In the last several years her care and well being have been lovingly tended to by her nephew, Robert Hardy and Debbie of Pasadena; her niece, Cyndi Coco and her husband, Jeff, of Bayou Vista; and her niece, Marsha Hatton of Houston.

We were all blessed to have her in our lives.
